The winter cold is setting in, and families are heading online for new ways to keep their children engaged and entertained with high-quality programs.
Milwaukee Public Library keeps right on serving the community in December with free virtual story times for all ages, curbside pickup at all locations, and academic support for grades 1-8.
They currently offer free online story times each week in English and Spanish, with special monthly story times available in Hmong and ASL.

Need help with school? Teachers in the Library connects students to teachers via Google Meet to assist students in grades 1 through 8 and their parents with class assignments, academic support, and encouragement.

Daily Story Time (ages 0-5)
Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.
Young children and their caregivers are invited to a virtual story time filled with fun stories, songs, and fingerplays all designed to help little ones develop important literacy skills needed prior to learning how to read.
Weekly PJ Story Time (ages 0-5)
Mondays, 6:30 p.m.
Families with young children are invited to a virtual story time filled with stories, songs, and rhymes designed to develop early literacy skills and encourage a love of reading. Cozy PJs and stuffed animal friends encouraged!
Weekly Spanish Language Story Time (ages 0-5)
Fridays, 9:30 a.m.
This Spanish story time rotates between two themes each week. The programs are presented in Spanish.
Cuentacuentos en español – Dec. 4, 18
Join the gathering with your little ones for stories, rhymes and songs all designed to help little ones develop literacy skills.
Juega y aprende para familias – Dec. 11
Join us for pretend games for families with young children. Each program is designed to be a fun and family activity that incorporates the development of early literacy skills through play. Learn the importance of talking, singing, reading, and having fun together for your child's growth.
Monthly Bilingual Hmong/English Story Time (ages 0-5)

Young children and their caregivers are invited to a Bilingual Virtual Story Time in English and Hmong filled with fun stories, songs, and fingerplays all designed to help little ones develop important literacy skills needed prior to learning how to read.

Thursday, December 17, 9:30 a.m.
Celebrate the culture of Deaf/Hard of Hearing (HoH) with a story time interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL). Young children and caregivers are invited to a virtual story time filled with fun stories, rhymes and finger plays. Hearing children and caregivers are welcome to attend.
During the month of December children ages 6-12 can receive help from a teacher through Virtual Teacher in the Library.

Teachers are available via Google Meet to assist students in grades 1 through 8 and their parents with class assignments, academic support, and encouragement. Register for a 30 minute session with a Teacher in the Library. Registration closes each day at 3:30 p.m.
