5 kid-friendly, free festivals happening this weekend

You don't have to spend a dime to find local, kid-friendly fun this weekend. Here are three festivals happening this weekend that charge no admission!

1. Greek Fest

June 24-26, 2016

Wisconsin State Fair Park

Be entertained by traditional Greek music and dancing, along with a Greek Market full of imported goods and artifacts! A wide variety of fresh, authentic Greek food will be available, including gyros, Greek chicken, lamb, saganaki, souvlaki, baklava and loukoumades.

Kids activities include games and rides for children of all ages.

Admission is free! ($5.00 parking)

2. Summer Soulstice

Saturday, June 25th, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to Midnight

Summer Soulstice is the largest free showcase of top local bands along with visual artists, makers of Milwaukee's arts/crafts scene curated by the Waxwing, creation stations, East Side restaurants, dodgeball and BMX stunt bikes, family-friendly activities and more.

There will be a dedicated kids' area with art, crafts and other fun filled kids' activities with A.W.E. Truck Studio, The Urban Ecology Center, East Library and much more!

Before the kids' area opens at noon, families can stop by the East Library from 10-12 for Super Reader crafts including a cape and mask so you can be prepared to be a SUPER READER all summer long!​

Admission is free!

3. Strawberry Festival

June 25-26, 2016

Downtown historic Cedarburg

More than 100,000 people visit Cedarburg annually for this free, family-oriented festival, a favorite for arts, crafts, delicious food, children's activities and of course everything strawberry-related! Festival favorites include the "Original" Strawberry Brat, Strawberry Shortcake, Strawberry Pie, Strawberry Crepes, Strawberry Slush and Chocolate-Covered Strawberries.

Starting at 11:00 a.m. in Cedar Creek Park, kids' activities will run all day. Highlights include Kids Are People, Too, an interacive, kid-friendly rock concert, the Cedarquacker Duck Race, a photo booth, fire safety, a petting zoo, a crawling maze, giveaways, dancer, clowns and more.

Admission is free!

4. Pewaukee Kiwanis Beach Party

Friday, June 24th

Saturday, June 25th

Pewaukee lakefront

The Pewaukee Kiwanis Beach Party offer live music, water activities, the Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Club performance at 5:00 p.m., demonstration from the Robotics Club, a face painter, and library activities as well as beach fun for the younger participants with Hat Trick from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. followed by our headliner, The Del Ray's from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m.

Food, beverages, and our special Leinie® Lodgeare available all day and night.

The Beach Party offers free admission and free parking. Proceeds benefit local charities.

5. Family Fun Before the Fourth

Saturday, June 25th

Thiensville Park

Thiensville's premiere summer family fun and entertainment attraction, paid for entirely through sponsorships from area businesses and service organizations, the City of Mequon and the Village of Thiensville. Parade at 10:30 A.M, free Ice Cream in park after parade, and spectacular fireworks at dusk.
