Autumn festivities abound in Milwaukee, and the Washington Park branch of the Urban Ecology Center will be hosting it's free annual Autumn Celebration on Saturday, October 24 from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
The event will feature pumpkin carving, caramel apple making, lawn games, and giant leaf piles, and apple cider making demonstrations every half hour starting at 1:30pm and ending at 3:00pm.
A homemade cider press will be used for the demonstrations, and the apples have been harvested from Blue Heron Wildlife Sanctuary in Saukville, WI. The fruit is all organic, free of any pesticides or fertilizers. Many different varieties of apples will be used, ranging in levels of sweetness, to achieve a complex flavor. Many batches of cider will be pasteurized in advance to ensure that it’s safe and the pasteurized samples will be available to taste.
